Frederick Keys Scout Night Sleepover!!!
Saturday, June 26th
You must register/pay by June 18th if you would like to go. Please contact Wendy Miller for details.
The boys had a great time at the National Capital Area Council's Centennial Camporee, celebrating 100 years of scouting. The 3 day Camporee was held at the Goshen Scouting Reservation in VA with over 8,000 Scouts in attendance!
The pinnacle of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting—the 2010 National Jamboree is at Fort A.P. Hill in July. Pack 1070 is planning to visit one of the days. You don't want to miss this once in a lifetime experience!
Pack 1070 Activities
Cub Scout Pack 1070 plans many events throughout the year for our scouts and their families and friends. For those new to scouting, or thinking about joining, please feel free to drop by and join us at any of our events. Everyone is welcome!
Among Pack 1070's many events each year, the major ones include:
Annual Rocket Launch (September) - Bring a rocket and see how high it goes. We launch all day in groups of two, three, five, or more, until we run out of engines. Cape Canaveral has nothing on us!
Punkin Chunkin Contest (October) - Ever wonder how far you could throw a pumpkin? What if you had a catapult! Come out and see not only the Dens' wild pumpkin throwing machines, but see just how far a pumpkin goes and how big a splash it makes when it lands!
Annual Food Drive (November) - Each year, in cooperation with other boy scout and girl scout organizations, the pack collects canned goods and packed foods from our neighbors to donate to the town food bank. It's not only a good deed that helps many of our friends and neighbors during times of need, but its a lot of fun as well.
Christmas Caroling (December) - It doesn't matter whether you can sing or not, come on out and voice the holiday spirit with us, followed by some hot chocolate and our annual pack Christmas Party.
Klondike Derby (January) - Ever have to mush your dog sled through a driving blizzard in the dark of the night? Well, neither have we, but we get to pretend that, and enjoy other games and events at this annual winter competition.
Blue and Gold Banquet (February) - This is the annual awards banquet where each the scouts not only are honored for their achievements but get to invite their family and friends for an evening of dinner, skits, and general fun.
Pinewood Derby Race (March) - Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!! Well, engines aren't really allowed, but the model cars made by the scouts themselves still move fast down the track. Winners represent the pack at the regional races held in Frederick.
Frederick Keys Scout Night Sleepover (June) - Not only is the baseball game fun to watch, and the hotdogs taste good, but you get to camp out overnight in the outfield with scouts from around the area.
Advancement Bridging Ceremony (June) - A fun family picnic followed by a ceremony where the scouts are formally advanced to their new ranks as Wolfs, Bears, Webelos, or new Boy Scouts
Goshen and Day Camp (Summer) - Enjoy adventures, games, picnics, and awards at the cub scouts annual summer camps.
